Number 7

Today Oliver turned 7. He was born at 5.05am, weighing in at 8pound, 11ounces.

He was my worst pregnancy - in hospital with morning sickness and then suffering gall stones (gall bladder came out when Ollie was 5 mths old) with a 3 and 1 yr old at home and working 30 hours a week, starting at 5am 6 days a week. Living in a little country town far away from family and friends while Simon did his time in a one man station. (violins please)

He was my worst labour. (I won't go into detail) Oliver's loves it that he was the toughest and longest one to arrive. :)

But it was all worth it for my firstborn son.

Yesterday we had a family dinner at our place to celebrate Oliver's birthday and also mine and Collette's from Jan and Feb.

Oliver asked for a monster cake so this was my masterpiece.
It doesn't look at all scary.

For dessert, after our BBQ which we had inside because of the rain, :) Ollie had asked for Cold Rock so we bought nearly every lollie under the sun to make it really yummy.

Flynn enjoyed his first taste of a freckle.

Today Oliver got to open his presents and he waited so patiently until after church. Normally we wouldn't torture our kids like that but Simon was still in bed on the back of a night shift and the kids and I didn't want him to miss out on seeing Oliver's excitement.

Jonty loved being Oliver's little helper. ;)

Oliver was excited about a few things he got for Minecraft (downloading a new mod) and an extra Moshi Monster app thingy from the Wheelers. He also loved the various word puzzle and activity books he got.

Mum asked him what he wanted for his birthday and he said, "books". Mum said, "what kind?" Ollie said, "Maths books". Hello quantum physics. ;)

A random shot of Flynn - because I couldn't help it.

For tea Ollie wanted rice and butter. That's it! It was SO boring but he loved it.

He also loved his new beginners telescope because he is into all things astronomy at the moment. His favourite book at the moment is an atlas. I think he is in awe that there is a whole world and beyond out there to discover.

HA HA! What an easy kid to please, he is a LEGEND. I wish we didn't live so far away or I'd have Oliver over to use our telescope which takes up half the garage!

The cake looked yummy - not so sure about the rice and butter! ;-) Funny kid! I love that Oliver is at the stage where the world is fascinating and he's old enough to start investigating it! Looks like a great day!
