Westbury Show

Every year Westbury puts on a show at the showgrounds behind our house. We always go because (a) it is not as expensive as the L'ton show and (b) if the kids get lost they are easier to find.

There are no rides either than pony rides and 2 ginormous jumping castles so it is pretty sedate and tame. Sideshow alley consists of the usual open-mouthed clowns and throwing the ball in the hoop to win a tacky soft toy.

The showbags are only a small variety which is good because less time to stand there all hot and bothered with whingey children undecided as to which one they want. Sarra ended up getting a sour ollies one which I found very disappointing as I can't stand sour lollies and so I could not scab anything off her. It was okay though because I helped Oliver pick the Cadbury's bag which he was quite willing to share with his cocoa bean addicted mother.

So the main attraction ended up being the jumping castles. The kids could see it from our house so they were extremely excited as opposed to their mother who had to fork out $15 for just 10 mins of bouncing.

Other attractions include horse events (not this year because of the equine flu), sheepdog trials, baby animal nursery, whip cracking, face painting, cultural dancers and the usual exhibitions like quilting, sponge cakes, flower arrangements. All that stuff that I know I would have no hope of entering let alone winning first prize.

All in all its a great morning if You don't want to do the rounds of the L'ton Show and you are back home and tucking into the showbags within about 2 hours.
