Bridport retreat

The view from Collette's balcony
Now you Tasmanians or ex-Tasmanians out there know what a wonderful spot Bridport is and how sunny it always seems to be around the east and north-east of Tassie. Well from Monday to Wednesday.... it rained. Ha! so much for our little holiday but that's okay. We can try again in the summertime.

On Monday morning Collette and I packed Mum's car with three dogs, three kids, bags and food. As the passenger I did alot of juggling on my lap. We made it in one piece but boy did the car stink by the time we got there. Three dogs in a confined space - yuk!!

Lisa came out with Jayme, Emily and Rohan for the day. It shone brightly for about 3 hours so we made a dash to the beach and all the kids went in, clothes and all. it was really funny to watch Hallie because I kept telling her she had to hold her cast up in the air to prevent it getting wet. So she would stand there ready to jump a wave with one arm up above her head.

The kids really enjoyed playing in the backyard.

Oliver's latest game is pretending to be a dog.

We buried Jayme in the sand all the way up to his head. Lisa started tickling him under the nose with a tiny stick and Oliver thought he would copy with a huge branch that just about wiped poor Jayme out. We could not stop laughing until a big wave came in and nearly went over his head. I've never seen anyone 'unbury' themselves quite so quick.

As the sun disappeared never to return again, Lisa took Jayme and Rohan home and Emily stayed on until Wednesday. We spent Tuesday playing tennis and going to the dog beach. it was cold and blustery but we didn't let that stop us from having a good day out. Collette beat me 6-2; 6-3 in tennis. One day I will make a comeback.

Wednedsay dawned too rainy to even venture outside so we watched a movie, ate popcorn and packed up to return back to Launceston.

What a bummer about the weather. Sounds like fun anyway. What a beautiful view!
